Foot Odor
Whether it is foot odour, vaginal or underarm odour we are all in search of a cure or remedy to rid the smell. The reason for this is either due to embarrassment or that of having to remove heavy yellow sweat stains from clothing. Most body smells that rise are normally caused through excess sweating and can be successfully treated, however if a body odour is one that is hard to remove no matter what you have done to get rid – then there is a great possibility that the body smell may be caused through infection. There is no reason to worry as infections can treated with antibiotics from your doctor. Below are some tips on how to help prevent foot odour. Remember to seek medical advice before using any unfamiliar foot products. 1 Use a few Lemon Tea bags, seep in almost boiling water for at least 5 minutes. Add tea to a small foot bath with some cool water to reach a good temp. Soak feet for 15 minutes and rinse. Tea Tree Oil can also help prevent foot smells.
2 Try alum powder, put lotion on your feet (to keep the powder on your foot), then the powder, put socks on. Do this before retiring. This will sort of dry up your feet, so they don't sweat so much, your feet will not produce the odors. Repeat for about a week and as needed.
3 You should rotate your shoes every other day to allow them to dry thoroughly. Avoid synthetic materials like rubber or vinyl, wear leather or cloth that can absorb moisture. Most sweat problems rise from materials, certain materials can cause severe sweating outbursts.
4 To help your foot odour soak your feet in a basin with tea (several black tea bags) for 10 minutes twice a week. This will inhibit sweat production for some period of time. Remember what work for one person may may not for the other due the severity of the foot odour condition. Keep footwear clean as stale smells may still lurk on the inside. It is pointless to clean the feet only to place them inside a smelly shoe. You can wash your trainers and other canvas footwear in the washing machine. Remember to wash your feet everyday in lukewarm water with a mild soap and dry thoroughly, especially between the toes, this area can hold clogged debris which can cause foot odour. Sprinkle talcum powder or one of the commercial foot powders (which sometimes are talcum powder) into the toes of your socks to help keep your feet dry and discourage the growth of bacteria. Some people like to use baking soda, but others say it feels rough against their skin. How ever it is al all down to preferential choice and to the one that gives positive results in ridding foot odor.
Never enclose the feet for long periods of time if you can help it because they have to breathe. Keep them in the open air, or wear breathable shoes like sandals and flop flops. Confining your feet in shoes and socks allows perspiration and bacteria to build-up, in turn causing stronger and more persistent odors. Sweating is required for body cooling so therefore a natural process of the body. The body contains approximately 2,700 square inches skin on which to sweat. The armpits only contain approximately 10 square inches of skin. Most of the sweat glands are located in the palms. The sweat evaporates off the body's skin causing cooling. When the body sweats too much, cooling becomes a problem. You can buy socks created in special fibres designed to keep perspiration away from the foot. Use anti-fungal soap foot powders and sprays designed to keep feet dry, these are ten penny and can be found in your local chemist. Talk to your chiropodist. If you have any concerns relating to foot odour
Try sprinkling baking soda into your shoes and leave overnight to absorb the foot odor, this is quite effective for some – so they say. You can also dust it on your feet before you wear shoes. If your problem is consistent it could be the result of having an infection if so go call in to see your doctor. Infections can be treated but normally with antibiotics of which your doctor can only prescribe. An infection will not go away by its self nor the foot odour until the infection is cleared. |
