Yes and No. Yes it is known that the female species can suffer from having an itchy bum but the reason we have the answer no is because, most women who suffer from this condition are embarrassed to come forward and talk about their problem with rectal itching, so therefore a known figure of how many suffer from rectal itching is unclear.

Medical practioners call chronic rectal itching pruritus ani--Latin for anal itching.

There are various possible causes to why rectal itching occurs. Most often than not rectal itching is associated with haemorrhoids, Haemorrhoids affect at least half of the population by the ripe old age of fifty. Other possible causes brought to light as to being the cause behind rectal itching includes allergic reactions to scented soaps; drinking our favourite beverages i.e. coffee, tea or alcohol - even eating citrus fruits and chocolate are all known to be common bowel irritants.

If you must - dampen the tissue because sticky stool waste can be hard to clean. "If you've wiped a few times and your anal area still isn't clean then try using a wet flannel which must be discarded after use.
